“RED ALERT!! Black Mesa/Big Mountain livestock impoundments happening now!! Ahe'hee!! Shannon
RED ALERT! Black Mesa families livestock have been witnessed getting hauled away! Livestock is Life! It is peoples livelihood. Most of the people living on Black Mesa are elderly. This is extremely upsetting. After discussion with relatives & a longtime supporter, we are questioning how effective it is to have people throughout the support network contacting the US-backed Hopi Tribe. It would probably be good to let them know we are watching them - but may be best to go above them. Perhaps the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) and Navajo Nation as well.
**Let's draft a letter of talking points and let them know that this is unacceptable!!!**
The stated reason that the horses & sheep get hauled away is damage to the land. Well take into consideration the effects that Peabody Coal/Energy has- especially considering all the millions of gallons of water they drew down, causing the whole Ancient aquifer to have what is called 'the draw-down effect', collapsing whole mesas and affecting the vegetation!! If they are so worried about the land then shut down Peabody Coal TAKE DOWN THE FENCELINES - which cuts off the livestock grazing areas and yes, it does have some impact---but nothing compared to what Peabody has done!
Additionally it was pointed out that the Hopi Rangers used quads to round up the animals - quads tear up the desert landscape better than any animals could! Know that this is harassment & is a continuation of the genocidal policies of pushing indigenous families off their homelands!
Lastly, remember to please be respectful when calling and writing these agencies because it is the families that have to deal with the repercussions of our actions.
Please stay on alert. We have contacted the office of Land Range Management; if they do not respond by tomorrow, we will ask you to flood their lines and say that the elders need their animals to survive and these confiscations are WRONG, that we are watching, and that we see this ongoing harassment as part of cultural genocide. Let's make sure they don't get away with this.
We're collecting funds to pay for livestock
reclamation. We know it will be at least $500.
The amount increases daily.”

When I read this Alert as SuperSkyWoman, I know
I am fighting the same genocide that has not
relented and am prepared for all the world’s
genocides including the one my parents fled from
in Nazi Germany. These oppressions are not
hidden from me, they lie under the top layer of my
skin always erupting and I have learned healing
methods to clear deeply, and stay on top of new healing methods that want to be used as the old ones, like antibiotics, become resistant. I am no afraid to be on the lookout for what tries to disable me nor what I can heal myself with. If the earth can be ravaged, I can see it and heal.

Commons DESTRUCTION repeats itself:
